Week 12: E-Book !

This week’s reflection focuses more on E-Book. At first, I was a bit difficult because I had no idea on how to make an e-book. I thought that we have to produce a very complicated and complex e-book like what we can see in internet. This means that I’m in really really big trouble!

However, it is different from my first impression. As we are still new in technology, we are just assigned to produce an e-book using Microsoft Powerpoint. Therefore, as future teachers, there are a few things that we need to consider when creating e-book for primary school children. The e-book should be:

1) Appealing

2) Using big fonts

3) Colourful and bright pictures

4) Interesting- including animations and sound effects

5) Suitable in terms of language use with their cognitive level

After considering all these aspects, we need to have a systematic plan. In our planning, we need to:

1) Select a theme or a topic

2) Choose the setting- time and place

3) Characters involved in the story and their characteristics

4) The plot of the story- conflict, climax, resolution

5) Navigational tool so that the e-book can work properly ( can go to the next page or the previous page)

6) Selection of animations and sound effects to be included in the e-book.

So, the next step is the topic of our e-book. My partner and I have chosen the topic of Animals in the Zoo. We plan to introduce some animals with their characteristics.

Here are some of the snapshots of our e-book:

Title: Animals in the Zoo

Theme: Animals

Year: Year 3
